Input/output ports

RS-232 port – A serial port.

The serial ports are called com1, com2, com3 etc.

36-pin centronics is the printer plug hole.

Parallel ports are named LPT1, LPT2, LPT3 etc.

PS2 connectors are 6 pin mini DIN, they are colour coded, used on ATX not BTX.

USB connections, must have at least windows ’98 for it to work.

12 Mbp – Top speed of the USB 1.1

480 Mbps – Top speed of the USB 2.0

SCSI has a top speed of 320 MBps

Audio connectors – Live in, mic in, line out, Aux in, gameport/MIDI (being replaced by USB)

*Mic records sound, MIDI records notes*

Video cables – S-Video is a four pin plug that carries video signals. A composite carries all the signals to one (??)
